Dear Friends and Family,
Another year full of adventure in the S household! I joked to friends last new years that our New Year's Resolution was no baby born in 2009. And we met the goal! Now of course there has been a pregnancy and Baby S #4 is due nice and early January 2010. Seriously though, we feel so blessed with the children God has given us and could not imagine life without one of them. We happily welcome the children God wishes to bless us with. Speaking of those blessings...
Little J turned 4 in September and continues to amaze me. He recognizes and can sound out lots of words but hasn't quite realized that he can read yet. I'm sure that is just around the corner though! He can easily count to 100, can write his first name, and is beginning to experiment with writing other letters. His artistic endeavors have improved a lot, too, thanks to his sister's love of all things art. His happy personality leads to much contagious giggling around our home. We are truly blessed by his presence in our lives! Overall, he is also quite responsible and we are thankful to have him as our eldest child.
E turned 2 back in March but everyone (including us) seems to think she is older. She is a tall and skinny little girl with quite the vocabulary (thanks to brother's influence). We are constantly having to remind ourselves that 'she is only 2' as our expectations are sometimes unrealistic for a child of that age. Potty training is coming along, although it feels rather slow. (Then again, we didn't even start potty training with little J until after he was 3.) E knows all her letters (upper and lower) and has a surprising knowledge of phonics and words that start with each letter (again, thanks to big brother). Her artistic abilities are impressive (so the proud parents think)! She is still my sweet and cuddly girl who would love to just sit in your lap all day listening to stories being read. My little girly girl is a delight to have around and is always ready to give a hug.
R turned 1 in July, towards the end of my first trimester with baby #4. Thankfully, God didn't give her the desire to really take off walking until that trimester was over and I had some energy back. (It was a looooonnngggg, hot summer.) R is quite the explorer! She gets into everything and very quickly! She is another giggly one and has many very cute expressions. R is still 'the baby' for a short time longer! Her personality has always been laid back and she is often content to do her own thing. This has caused me to be a bit lazy I'm afraid and her vocabulary is only now starting to take off as I focus more attention on my interactions with her. She has recently discovered coloring and will not rest until she is included in the fun when brother and sister are at it. She is such a sunny personality and her siblings love including her in their games... most of the time. It will be interesting to see how she continues to develop as she enters into the roll of big sister soon!
And of course there is baby P still growing inside me, getting more and more active every day it seems. (How this is possible as he 'loses' room is beyond me!) We are excited (and a bit nervous) as always to be welcoming a new little one to our family. The other kids are as excited as Big J and I and have included him in our list of family members for the past 5 months at least.
Big J and I are doing great as well. We will be celebrating 7 wonderful years of marriage this coming Saturday!
