We took the opportunity on Monday (and the previous weekend) to learn more about our country... What Independence day is, who wrote the National Anthem, a few patriotic songs. We're planning to learn the Pledge of Allegiance in the next few months as well.
The kids have LOVED having Daddy around so much and one night he showed them how to complete a circuit to create light. This was especially cool when hooked up using bristle blocks.
Another afternoon this week, Oma gave an impromptu science lesson that covered dinosaurs, the food chain, and the Gobi desert.
And the older kids certainly haven't slowed down on their reading! And if you know how to read, the learning will always continue. :)
