Brainpower

My son's brain continually amazes me. Lately he has shown some confusion in understanding what 'half' of something is or 'half way.'

For instance, he asked today if we were almost to a friend's house. I told him that we were half way there. So he asks, "Does that mean we are almost there?" Now I know he is not looking for a discussion on optimism. So today within my explanation, I told him it means we are in the middle.

He thinks for a few minutes and then starts sounding out the word cat aloud to himself. Then he asks "Like the 'a' in cat?" And yes, in a sense, it is like that. I would never have put the two thoughts together, but if it works for him, why not?
